The Locked in Challenge ~ 10 photos of my bathroom ~ Day 10

"Try to get yourself in the picture - without showing your camera". Those are tears of joy that the the challenge is over and we can once again commence observing life outside.

What have I learned from all this? Well the rubbish tin lid needs a polish for starters.

One of these bottles is marked "shampoo" the other "conditioner". They sit in the corner of our shower floor. I have no idea what they are for. :D

Isolation in plain sight.

We interrupt the bathroom challenge to prove that we aren't locked in. Walking for exercise is allowed in your local area, which for us means a gentle stroll on the sand, but so many people are driving to what would normally be a vacant beach mid-week that new rules are imminent!

The Locked In Challenge - 10 photos of my bathroom in 10 days - Day 2

Yesterday was easy - now the degree of difficulty increases by the day!

It's not as though we are really that locked in, I mean the beach is still a short walk away and we are allowed to exercise whenever we want, as long as we are alone or with one other person who lives in our household, but when someone issues a challenge....

I'm not doing myself any favours by staring off with the easy ones, but if I run out of inspiration I can come back in a few days and change the title to "four photos in four" days I suppose!

Beaches Closed

The beach is closed, but the water temperature is already down to 23°C so who'd want to swim in that? There are so few people about that the lifeguard hasn't changed the notice in three days.

The little white spec on the horizon tells another story, it is the cruise ship "Wind Spirit", which along with the "Carnival Spirit", "Sea Princess" and "Pacific Dawn" are drifting or anchored not far from shore, apparently homeless.

Strange times.

Surf Lifesaving School

"Nippers" is the name given to the smallest of the Surf Life Saving Fraternity - every summer weekend hoards of them arrive at Surf Clubs to learn basic water craft, and compete in organised events. Thanks to the tireless band of parents and club members who pretty much dedicate their entire weekend to educationg the next generation of life savers.

Etymology - in English "Nipper" was a name often given to a young lad who was fleet of foot -"nipping" or darting around. In Australia, it's also the name given to the pincer on a crab or lobster, so there's a nice connection between energy and the sea!

Groups of Two

Here in Australia in the midst of the World Crisis, we are still allowed out, but we can only get together in groups of two. There are ways of making the most of that!

Social Distancing

In just a week we've gone from a nation of beach goers huddling with our mates, to a bunch of egrets sitting alone and distrustful, guarding our stash of toilet paper.

Strange times.

A message.

Once upon a time if we wanted to send a message we grabbed a pigeon from our roof top loft and sent it on its merry way. Now we have a different sort of pigeon, but it's just as messy.

When the jetlag clears, perhaps normal transmission will resume, but for now we're just happy to be safely back with sand between our toes once more.

RED

This month's theme Day theme is "Red", a colour synonymous with danger, and although perhaps the only danger associated with this photograph would be if one were to have a nasty fall from one.

Curiously and quite coincidentally because this photo was taken at Wurtulla on the Sunshine Coast, the colours of the bikes make it all very reminiscent of China, a country know for being "Red".

Perhaps the Sunshine Coast's greatest rival for tourist dollars (if you don't count Bali) is the Gold Coast, barely 150 kilometres to our south. Here it is advertising on our turf, hoping we'll all pack up our zimmer frames and join them!

Some may have noticed that this blog has not been Fresh and Daily for some time - a situation I hope to remedy in the not too distant future. In the meantime, perhaps a blackboard can be a reminder that things can change!
