A Photo Every Day from the Sunshine Coast - Australia

Thinking things through

I'm sorry the sign is out of focus (one confused photographer!) but it says
"Magpie Territory"

Magpies nest in this area and may swoop on intruders.
This is normal defensive behaviour  during the breeding season and lasts up to six weeks.

Protect yourself.

  • Move quickly through the area
  • Don't run
  • Wear a hat or carry an umbrella
  • Bike riders dismount and walk.

From the same Council that brings you the playground.

The Start

No matter what the level of racing, the good guys are always first to start, and there's always someone who was dreaming.

Armchair sailors

Prestart manoeuvres are underway, and there's hardly a word to be heard, no shouting, just intense concentration around the shore by the radio controlled yacht racing course.

I think I could get into this.

Perfectly repeatable afternoon.

It's as though there's a rubber stamp inside the camera.   Go for a walk late afternoon, gasp at it all, take a photo, go home happy, then realise it's the same as the photo of a week ago.

Where eagles dare.

A proper photographer would have had his long lens with him while out and about seeking opportunities such as this.   Instead we'll have to make do with something less than prize winning perfection.

Eclectic?

What at first appears to be something of a conglomeration bears further examination.  That roof on the left?   Children's cubby house to fit in perfectly with the main dwelling!

Doomed.

I know, I've posted a photo of this house before.  Before the gate had fallen apart to be replaced with a little yellow sign, and before the cubby had so elegantly been added to the structure, sharing those views that stretch to the horizon.    One day, it will succumb to the pressure of development, of that we can be certain.

One day it will be a white and aluminium block of flats and another link to the past will be gone.

The Blue Stuff

This is what they were watching, those idlers sitting on the top of the headland basking in the afternoon sun.    An ever changing nothingness as far as the eye can see!

Late afternoon, winter.

You can tell it's winter, someone there has a beanie on.  With shorts and thongs.

Another clear, warm day on the top of Moffat Headland, perfect for just looking at the blue stuff.

Winter's afternoon

I remember now how clear the air can be here in winter.  I'd like to say crisp, but what is crisp at twenty-five degrees C?

Scrappy

There's nothing particularly lovely about looking up into the canopy of a Norfolk Pine, particularly after high winds and cockatoos have had their chop.

Motion

By four-thirty this afternoon I still didn't have a photo for this month's theme day.  It was with a bit of desperation therefore that I stood on the bridge at Tooway Creek waiting for something to happen.

Motion!

To see how others have interpreted this theme, don't forget to visit the City Daily Photo Theme Day Gallery!
