Would the architects really have gone to the trouble of ordering colour-matched cars to park outside?

Fore!
The asbestos cement sheeting on this house has been damaged for as long as I can remember, which admittedly is not as long as it once was, but in any case it's a couple of decades since the holes appeared.
The puzzle to me though is whether they were inflicted by a particularly severe hail storm, in which case one would expect other walls and the roof to be damaged as well, or whether the windows too have been broken by errant play on the neighbouring golf course.

Desperately seeking patina.
Amazingly, the gossamer curtains over the face of just one half of this window, are actually fly screens. The fibreglass reinforced plastic mesh has disintegrated in the sun to the extent that only the fibreglass reinforcing is left.
I have to admit I haven't seen that before!

The world begins at the end of the street
It may well be just a trick of the early morning sun, but it looks for all the world as though something special is happening in downtown Maroochydore!

Fibro
Its just another old "Fibro" beach house, but I do like the proportion of the windows.
And the way the roof over the landing was constructed as an afterthought but ever so carefully in the hope that it wouldn't look like it.

What does this textured pattern on the road represent I wonder? A scramble crossing?

The Colours
After yesterday's monochrome effort, I thought it only fair to leave a taste of the colours that were missing.

Unsure
I can't be sure if I made the right decision to use black and white for this shot. It sort of works, but.... well it was a hard one!

Scribbly Gum
From Wikipedia, because sometimes it's easier than re-writing:
These zigzag tracks are tunnels made by the larvae of the Scribbly Gum Moth (Ogmograptis scribula) and follow the insect's life cycle. Eggs are laid between layers of old and new bark. The larvae burrow into the new bark and, as the old bark falls away, the trails are revealed. The diameters of the tunnels increase as the larvae grow, and the ends of the tracks are where the larvae stopped to pupate.

Leaf Litter
I suppose if one were to count the species among the leaves, one would be satisfied that diversity is adequate in the bush in Caloundra.
I just happen to like the colours.

Ti Tree Forest
Despite appearances it's not impenetrable, but it is quite easy to get lost within.
The black is ash, where the paperbark has done its job, insulated the tree from the heat of the fire and allowed it to live to see a cooler day.

On my bucket list
Watch a game of cricket at the Caloundra Cricket Club. How terrific is it that we have a cricket ground that is still completely fenced with traditional pickets?
I hope the National Trust sees this post and takes action appropriately.

Seeing Stars
The white speckles on the glass balustrading are actually stars. If you lived on the top floor you'd see stars every night without having to lift your head from the pillow.

Living in Glass Houses
I wondered for a time about publishing this photo, but since the person is not readily identifiable decided to press on.
I often photograph reflections of buildings in the windows of other buildings, but our climate and lifestyle is such that we can see adjoining buildings THROUGH the one we are photographing.
Privacy is a secondary consideration, falling in the list of priorities well below view and breeze.

There is no time limit on that piece of dappled shade on the grass. We can sit watching and listening to the waves for as long as we want, or until we get hungry!

Suit Handyman
The advertisement would paint pictures of potential, but the reality is that there is no saving it - one day it will be gone, asbestos cement gutters and all, and a shiny new something expensive will rise in its place.
Perhaps we should be happy about "progress", but it's OK to lament what could have been if we aren't prepared to put our wallets in the place of the lament!

Moff e rs oo ou
Once this sign read "Moffateers Lookout".
What thrill can these miscreants possibly have derived from levering off the letters?
Let me see, they have "a t e L k" not enough letters to spell the word I'm thinking of that describes them.

Squares
Today the City Daily Photo theme is "squares" and many more interpretations of that theme may be found at this link.
The pedantic among you may note that I have actually chosen a cube rather than a square as the subject of today's photograph, but here it is none the less. The "ice" in the picture is actually concrete, a substance which is pretty much guaranteed not to melt in our climate, unlike the product from the vending machine, which begins it's translation back to the stuff from which it was made the minute it is removed from the cool room.
It's interesting to note that it is more economical to buy ice and let it melt than it is to buy bottled water at the corner store!
