If the water gets any higher our feet will get wet.
But that rarely happens, if the water gets higher usually the lake breaks out through the dunes and the level drops quite rapidly. Just after this photo was taken however, a mechanical digger did the job, to allow some renovation work on a drain!

In the suburbs
4 of 4
The Sunshine Coast equivalent of a service lane at the back of one's house. From here, the ocean, and freedom is less than a kilometre away by boat.

In the suburbs
1 of 4
Walking through the suburbs in Mooloolaba can provide an glimpse of what lies beyond the high fences and garage doors. WATER!
Many houses are actually built on waerways providing boating access to the rear, although this is rarely visible from the street.
Here, a waterfront block of apartments looks back across the harbour.

Beach Casuarinas
I'm not sure what I like more, the sound of the waves as we approach, or the wind gently whirring through the She-oaks.

My Favourite Laneway
I think of all the laneways in all the cities in the world that I have walked, the ones that lead to the beach through a stand of casuarinas are my favourites.

Behind the dunes
If it wasn't for the roar of the ocean beyond, one could be in a field in the middle of the country. Instead, we have just a few metres to the ocean.

House on the hill
It looks like a winter sky, but it's the end of summer, heavy with moisture, a storm is brewing inland while the houses at the top of the dunes look blissfuly out to sea.

Personality
I wonder if the colour of one's surfboard is a reflection of one's personality? If it is, I wonder what colour is this fellow's car.

Not a Prison
Iron bars do not a prison make, but do they make a welcoming resort reception area?
I wasn't aware that we had so many bad guys.

A sea of grey
While sitting eating a quiet pie in Noosaville, it dawned on me that every car within sight was coloured in a tone of what was once known as drab. (Actually drab was a little more greenish, but you get the point.) What happened I wonder to the oranges and purples and yellows and reds of the days when cars were an expression of ones personality?
Or heaven forbid, are they still a reflection of the personality of the driver?
Noosaville.

Verandah
3 of 3
I'm not sure that there's ANYTHING better than sitting on a shady verandah on a hot day overlooking the coast while eating warm Pumpkin scones straight from the oven with fresh local cream, with a nice cup of coffee. Some would argue that it would be better with tea, but I'm not so sure about that.

Verandah
2 of 3
There are few things nicer than being on a shady verandah on a hot day and looking out at a view which extends across Lake Weyba to Peregian.
Our friend Trevor was given to remarked of the view from here that the Sunshine Coast would be a great place to live if it wasn't so cluttered and full of buildings.

Animals!
Today's City Daily Photo bloggers' theme is "animals", and I thought I'd use this as an opportunity to express the contempt I feel as I pass this sign each day on my way to the beach.
Thankfully the vandalism (of which there is thankfully little on the Sunshine Coast), is a stark contrast to the attitude of the majority of the community as expressed by the sign.
Am I doing the animal world a disservice by lumping the perpetrators in with them?
If you'd prefer to see animals of the warm fluffy kind, I'm sure you'll find thousands on other participating sites, (or pop back through the last two days here).
