Oh what a tangled web...

Mind you it wasn't quite as shambolic until I walked into it.

The rain is slowly clearing now, which is a shame really, because I've really developed a liking for the weird reflections that turn up under my car if I looks hard enough.

Well what's the collective noun for garbage bins then?

Perhaps a "surfeit"? The six in this photo have at least another six within a similar radius. Must be the most litter-free park in all of Buddina.

What's the collective noun for masts?

Could it be a "Muddle of Masts" perhaps? Why is it that if these were electricity poles or telecommunications towers they'd be considered a blight, but because they are connected to boats they are romantic and scenic and photo-worthy?

Running from the rain.

One hundred and seventy mm today, another hundred expected overnight. Everything is greening up nicely, including the webs between my toes. Most sensible people were tucked up in their offices or watching a movie, so I got to enjoy the lull with barely any company on the road.

The end of the chase.

I have no problem eating animals, and I've caught lots of fish in my lifetime and no doubt will catch a few more, but I admit to being a little squeamish at the concept of catching them for sport.

On the one hand this little (bigger than he looks and of legal "keeping" size) guy was released and sent safely on his way no doubt with adrenalin pumping through his system. On the other, is there any other animal which society would tolerate having a hook thrust into its body and dragged to the point of exhaustion without raising a hue and cry?

I don't know whether I feel more sorry for the fish, or for the fisherman's mate trying to keep his balance shin-deep in the mud. He lost one of his brand new thongs down there somewhere.

Although perhaps I shouldn't encourage them to return, it's much nicer when they are at home and the beach is just for me.

While the world watches something called "The Winter Olympics", we wonder why everyone there appears to be wearing long pants as we queue for our super-chilled cold pressed coffee, wearing as little as possible consistent with being decent enough for downtown temperatures.

Yes I know I'm a bit late...

There's a wall above Kings Beach which commemorates those whose remains have been scattered at sea by the volunteer Coast Guard. Why should they miss out on the festive season?

I'm not sure why the yellow lines, the edge of the bitumen, and the gate do not suggest that perhaps there is nowhere further to go in one's car, but if you are the sort of person who can't take a hint..... you can always read the sign.

I checked, and sadly the back of the sign does not declare "beginning of road" for those coming the other way. We just have to work that one out for ourselves.

A little (not much more than a metre long) carpet python paying a visit to our neighbour's yard.

So there! Welcome to the land of spiders, snakes, crocodiles and sharks!

We're never satisfied.

It's raining and blustery at the moment and we don't like it. Last week it was thirty degrees and humid and even under cloud cover the UV index was at a dangerous 14 plus. We didn't like that either, but that didn't stop the last of the holiday crowds from enjoying the balmy twenty-seven degree water.

It is important to note though that even if it doesn't meet our exacting standards we are quite happy to accept whatever weather is dished up on any given day!
