Hot Cross Buns
Hot Cross Buns on Good Friday.
Posted a day late, because yesterday's pic had been uploaded well before I had taken the picture, but perhaps reflective on current commercialism of a Christian tradition, where we find this traditional and very symbolic Good Friday fare on sale in shops and bakeries for at least a month leading up to Easter, and a week or two after it.
The buns of my childhood had crosses slashed across their tops before baking, making a much more macabre (and symbolic) statement than the modern versions.
van Wegans' Bakery, Bundilla.

got a packet of eight from the supermarket yesterday. Had one this morning already - am trying to resist the temptation to have another before this evening!
My wife finishes all of our hot cross buns before I can get a look in!
I've gone with the abomination that is chocolate hot cross buns (they just ain't right - but gee they taste good!).
I really like your moniker, avatar, nom de plume, whatever.
I look forward to seeing your photos of the sunshine coast - it was my second home during my childhood.
That looks yummy.
Wish we could get hot cross buns in France. I miss them. Nice photo. Makes me hungry!
