... when this Spitfire......
Skywatch with aeroplane

I was just minding my own business sitting on top of the hill when this Spitfire P51 Mustang (thanks to Mick and Darren for the proper identification) came roaring past!

I know it looks as though the shot was taken from an aircraft, it wasn't, which is a bit of a comment on just how low he was flying, probably being a bit naughty I suspect.

I thought the sky made a lovely old wartime sort of picture, if there is such a thing as lovely wartime that is.

Of course it's Friday, so visit the Skywatch Home where you can find links to skyshots from around the world.

Great photo, never would have thought from the ground!
Great to see these old birds fly, have not seen one in a few years now.

Terrific capture, Peter. You have brought it so close for us and so clearly.

No, I'm not sure it's a Spitfire, but It'll do till the real thing gets here! (Any thoughts if it's not?)

BTW Julie, this is actually one of the Pt Cartwright series, I reckon he was lower than the lighthouse.

Great picture for Skywatch! It DOES look like it was shot from another airplane!

Wow, nice. I was buzzed recently by a visiting B-17, but I am WAY too slow getting my camera out of its pouch. You'd make a great grouse hunter.

Thanks to "this too will pass", I have checked it out and it appears to be a P51 Mustang not a Spitfire, so now I do believe it's correctly identified.

Of course I was happy just knowing it was an aeroplane!

What a great image! You can even see the shine of metal on the aircraft!

Awesome capture !!!

If you hadn't said where you were, I'd have thought that you'd shot it from another plane..
