Take Two

That's better!   No seagull and just a slightly different angle makes the water ever so slightly inviting.  But it's late in the afternoon, and there's quite a wind blowing so all the sensible people are standing beside the pool taking photographs!

Photobombed by a seagull

Sometimes, when it's least expected, something gets in the way of the picture.

I suspect the seagull was trying his best to get out of the way, but my exposure was a bit out anyway, so I'll just bin this one!   ;-)

Prosperity

In a time long gone, the Premier of our State used to count the cranes on the skyline as a measure of the prosperity of his domain.

Caloundra, on that basis is becoming prosperous again, albeit only one crane's worth at the moment, but it's a sign that something is happening in the construction industry.

I really must do my bit to try to capture the colour changes from this one position!

Moon, through the Norfolks

A late afternoon moon appearing through the Norfolk Pines as the last of the sun reflects on the tree trunks.

DUMB!

I'm certainly not referring to the poor lady sitting opposite me whose identity I've smudged a bit, but to the people who blindly enforce legislation.   Here I am in a shop that is four metres deep, and four metres wide with a full width door as it's only access to the shopping mall.

Notice way up high, at the top centre of the door, is an emergency exit sign, just in case anyone missed the way out, on the way in!

Another thousand dollars worth of wiring and annual maintenance costs that serve no purpose!

Ahh, it's good to be home among the world's real problems!

Shells!

Sometimes, when the combination of wind and waves are just right, we find little piles of shells among the sand.  They aren't huge, and it doesn't happen often, but it's fun when it does.

Why I live where I live (still).

Three year olds are just as enthusiastic as I am when it comes to mucking around at the water's edge!

Ships passing before the night.

So this is why they use those sweet pale blues and purples in the "beach memorabilia".

All jumbled up.

Life is as jumbled as this children's puzzle at the playground at Moffat Beach.   It's probably just as easy to sort out a solution as well, but as the jetlag fades the reality of life with almost no internet connection is setting starting to make an impact.

Two to four weeks the nice lady said, before we get sorted!

Ugh!

What did I miss?

The Sign gives a clue, but it isn't clear whether the exhibition was of "surfcraft", the boards and skis, or "surf craft", the craft of making them!

Actually it was of the former, and I missed it by two days.

Better luck next year!

Back at Moffs

Jetlag has me too tired to notice the contrast and the splodge of light in the centre of the sky because the lense is pointing into the morning sun.   It doesn't matter though, it's breakfast time and I'm on the beach and there's almost no one else around!

Jet lagged.

Back in Australia after six months away, heavily jetlagged, guess where you'll find me today?

Actually I'll be in bed, but I'll probably be heading to the beach this evening.

Curves

Computer Aided Design has had an impact on construction, and it's not all bad.  Curves can be generated with little effort on paper at least.   A little more effort is needed to build them none the less!

Seeking Shade.

It does look a little like the road, but it's the bit of footpath that isn't in the shade.   It's not that difficult to see which bit people prefer to use.

Ripples

Perhaps I've posted something similar before.  Actually I have, but I like the rippling facades of our beach side buildings, so I will probably post others in the future too!

On a clear day..

Once there was unimpeded ocean view no doubt.  Now the view is gently filtered by the Norfolk Pines, and the sound of the ocean by the parrots which invade each summer evening, doing their best to ensure the vegetation is neatly tip pruned.

The view from the Loo with a View is constantly changing, or at least the water part is.  Point Cartwright changes at a much slower pace.

Shaded View

Shade!  On the viewing deck, seats sit in heavy shade, but there is still enough UV light reflected off the water and the beach to burn the unwary.

Cones

Can't help but wondering what the "witches hats" are actually doing.   Since only one vehicle is allowed on the beach, they can't be there to warn overtaking trucks.

Just curious!

Details

The sun shades on the windows at the Mooloolaba Surf Club are shaped like surfboards.  Really, on a building that is absolutely on the beach is that sort of identification truly necessary?

Someone obviously thought so, perhaps it was an attempt to provide a hint at deciphering the logo.  Would anyone like to try?

This is just one of many City Daily Photo blogs posted today with the theme Details - many others may be found at this link.
