A week of Kite Boarding
Day 7 - Sky Turns

If the "sailor" gets distracted whilst aloft, the stop is sudden and the impact huge.   That's probably enough for one week, although I have enough shots in my kit to start a kite-board blog I think.

More later in the year perhaps.

A week of Kite Boarding
Day 6 - Incoming!

What goes up, must come down, unless of course the kite gets hung up on a cloud.

I didn't wait around long enough to see if this bloke got his rig untangled, perhaps he's still just hanging there!

When conditions are right, there's no point in spending the day in the office is there?

Day 4 - The Turn

Leaving the turn till the last minute, yes that is sand in the bottom left of the frame, this kiteboarder is actually trying to splash his dog, faithfully standing by until the fun is over.

A week of Kite Boarding
Day 3 - Jumping the Glasshouses

You'll just have to take my word that he made it and landed safely to boot.

It's called "getting air", and these blokes get serious air!

A week of Kite Boarding
Day 1 - the kite

It's been raining LOTS here of late, and my camera has been in the repair shop, so it's nice to be out in the merest hint of sunshine even if there are big winds about.

Welcome to a whole week of kite-boarding fun!

Hidden Jewels

The colours bouncing out are not actually precious gems, just a trick of the light as it refracts among the bubbles in overcast conditions.

It's fun to sit and watch and pretend the treasure is one's own, which in a sense, it very much is!

Changing Beach

It's hard to believe that once those rocks and indeed the stairs had a cover of beach sand, but summer's high tides and storms have left their mark.    Hopefully in a few months or a few seasons at worst, we'll see the sand building up again, and the bathers will return with their umbrellas!

Same shag, different view

I admit it, she's the same bird from January's series, but I like the different background anyway!

On the rocks

In stormy weather the sea seems to thicken somehow, the water over the rocks looks for all the world like frosting drizzled over a cake.

Boring Sunsets, same place same day
4 of 4

As suddenly as the sunset arrives, it departs, leaving a blue tinge in the sky, signalling that it's time to pack up the camera for another day.

Boring Sunsets, same place same day

There comes a time of day, when the sun is just right, that the lava plugs which are the Glasshouse Mountains start to glow as if there is a bulb inside, or perhaps an eruption welling from within.

Thankfully its just a trick of the light.

Boring Sunsets, same place same day
1 of 4

If you are the sort of person who nods off as the sun sets, you'd better come back in a day or five.   This series was taken within a few minutes of one another between Kings Beach and Bulcock Beach.

We watched as inanimate objects seem to become illuminated, so I wasted a few frames of digital film trying to capture what we were seeing.

Golden Beach and THANK YOU

Looking towards Golden Beach and wondering how it got its name, I also wonder how it is that I've actually managed to post a photo each day for the past four years.

This is the one thousand four hundred and sixty-third photo posted on this site!  Doesn't time fly when one is having fun!

This seems like a pretty good time to pause and thank all those who visit and comment.  Your comments are greatly appreciated.

Hidden Vista

Along the coast there are many buildings which sit naked, exposed to the elements, attempting to dominate the landscape.   Thankfully there are many others which sit quietly, enjoying their location, peeking around the vegetation to see what lies beyond.

View from a Boardwalk

This shot was taken a little earlier than the one posted two days ago, although the lighting is very similar the sky is only just beginning to soak up the colour of the dying sun.

Treading the boards

The day is almost done so it's peak hour on the boardwalk.

Late afternoon and early morning are prime periods for perambulation.

The last towels of summer

In years gone by it has been my habit to photograph the first towel-over-balcony that I come across as a sort of symbol that summer has arrived.    This summer it completely escaped my mind.

Here then, is what may well be the last towel (or three or four) of summer.

Before the sun sets

Before the sun sets, the light gets all monochromatic and the sea turns silver.   Over coming days we may well chart some changes as it descends below the horizon.

Colour

I think there is room for one multi coloured building in every few hundred kilometres of coastline, but not everyone agrees.

It's quite pretty in a tacky "here comes the clown" sort of way.

Electricity

If it wasn't for electricity the black box in the foreground wouldn't be there.  It's a free electric barbecue you see, and there are lots of them strategically located along the foreshore.   This one in Eleanor Shipley Park, Moffat Beach.

Today's City Daily Photo blogging theme is electricity.  Click here to view thumbnails for all participants
