The Photographer
A real wedding or a practice shoot?
I'm not sure, but the boys are on their way in either case.

Too young to be married
I'm not sure, he looked about twelve and his walk is not the walk of a senior citizen. I didn't tell him that Groucho Marx would have been proud of his outfit, but he would.

Dicky Beach
I thought I said I'd come back at low tide. Hmmm, I didn't, but that's what I meant.
The Dicky underwater and almost between the flags.

Quicksilver
Quicksilver is of course a well known brand of beachwear, but it's easy to see the inspiration behind the name. As the waves crash into the setting sun, they seem to become heavy as though made of mercury.
"Quicksilver" it was called.

Femlin
I didn't ask her how long she'd been surfing, but I reckon it was long enough so she'd know what a femlin was in old time surfie talk, and it's a long time since a board rider was called a surfie come to think of it!

Physics
I've never fully understood how the beach manages to change it's mood to match the time of day, but by evening, after the freneticism of the blues and greens of the ocean all day it just sort of mellows, and chills a bit.

Foam
There's just nothing horrible at all about walking near the edge of the surf late in the afternoon.

Dicky
Winter at Dicky Beach. It might be time to return to the wreck while it's still visible, it seems that the sand is building up over it again.

Surfing Bareback
I don't think he meant to do this, but it may well be the start of a new craze.
Bareback surfing, you saw it here first folks!

Shelley Beach
Late afternoon on the beach, the water takes on a silvery sheen on its way to becoming inky black by night.

Norfolks
At Moffat Beach, the apartment is called Norfolks, and it didn't take very long for me to work out why. For those unfamiliar with the trees they are Norfolk Pines (Araucaria heterophylla ) not a true pine, but endemic to Norfolk Island.
In the 1950's they were brought to Australia and became a part of our coastal vernacular planting after what must have been a marathon effort by someone to ensure that every coastal town got its fair share.

One man and his dog
An umbrella provides protection from the winter sun, although I'm not quite sure what role the hanging water bottle plays, it is clearly well guarded.

Left handed Wave.
Actually the wave is a right hander, the surfer is waving with his left. Isn't that Point Cartwright out to sea behind him? By golly I think it is!

Rockpools on Shelley 2
I know there is a scientific explanation for all the patterns in the rocks, but I don't care. I just love them to bits.

Late Afternoon, Shelley Beach (Again)
Another of the same. I can sit here for a very long time, but I won't bore you with the other four hundred versions of these photos!
Every hour the light and colour changes, but I like it best in the late afternoon when only the blue remains, and the white of the surf seems to provide the perfect foil.

Late Afternoon, Shelley Beach
There's not much I can say really, other than I like this place.

Point Cartwright Again
I can't recall posting a view of Point Cartwright from the south previously. That would be mostly because at this distance it is usually obscured by haze.
I think I'll stay on the beach for the rest of the month!

Gollum looking for fish
I had taken the photo of not much before I realised that there was a strange apparition lurking in the shadows, creating a larger one.
I left before I heard the ghostly voice looking for "his precious".

The Passing Parade
I can't say why we all chose to rock-hop round the point, there's a perfectly good path just a few metres away, but there's just something 'beachy' about stumbling over the stones and slipping on the sandy bits that we all find quite attractive.

Winter Surfer
A few paces behind the couple dressed for summer yesterday, the body boarder seems more sensibly attired, but the water temperature is still almost as warm as the air.
I would be wearing a full steamer suit I think.

Off Home
I really like watching the passing parade late in the afternoon. It's winter, perfect weather, some are dressed for summer, some are dressed for snow, I was wearing shorts and rubber shoes as a defence against the chill.

Moffat
Moffat Headland has thus far escaped my lens' gaze. It's time to correct that!

Going Home
A classic timber surfboat, it's racing days over, makes a nifty inboard fishing boat for just whiling away the sunset.
The black and white photo is in deference to its vintage.

Reflected Dreams
There's nothing like a Kombi full of surfing gear and a bit of bedding to bring out the dreams of a faded youth!
This month's City Daily Photo Bloggers theme day is "reflections".Click here to view thumbnails for all participants
