They aren't kidding.
Much of the area in which we live was a military training area half a century ago, and it was not an uncommon thing to find all sorts of interesting things in years past.
Only a few years ago an unexploded bomb appeared in a backyard trench as a plumber was digging a drain. There's an incentive to stay indoors watching television!

I remember hearing this story, couldn't quite remember whereabouts on the coast it was...wonder how far it went, and how I can find out, tried to look it up at one stage and didn't get very far.
HI Annie, the area stretched all the way along the flat bit between Currimundi and Kawana Waters. One of our friends dug up a rifle in their garden in Wurtulla a a few decades ago. You may be interested in this:
