The Islander

This will be the last shipwreck picture until the next catastrophe, I promise!

I originally thought the Islander could consider itself lucky that the surf was so mild, in a larger swell it would have been destroyed in a night.

But I didn't count for the fact that it wasn't able to be salvaged quickly enough, and by yesterday the superstructure had been obliterated and the hull was nowhere to be seen. I don't know whether it has been saved, or simply broken up in the waves.

It’s not you sinking them for photo opportunities is it? :)

LOL, I think Kris may be onto something. All of the ship wreck pics look neat.

How sad for the owners. Such a lovely boat but then again, perhaps they need sailing lessons first!

That's dramatic image. I'm a island dweller to and i've not captured a shipwrack yet.

Do you know if the old wreck is still on Moffat Beach at Caloundra or has it melted into the sand?
It was called the Cherry Somethingorother.

The Cherry Venture was on the beach at Cooloola north of Noosa, but the last of it has now been removed as it was quite decayed and dangerous.

The wreck near Moffat Beach is the Dickey, after which Dickey Beach was named. I think it's all gone now, but I'll check it out. Watch this blog!

It all makes the place sound like some dangerous shipwreck coast doesn't it? It's not!

Cheers,

P
