Signs that don't.

I expect that at night, the carpark is "undercover of darkness".

Sometimes, signs need further explanation, but I don't do further explanation.

For Joan

At this time of year I normally head to Nambour for a series of shots which are nothing if not character-building to sit through. For Joan's sake, I may not go there this year, but to ensure the boredom quotient remains consistent, here's a photo of a rusting duct.

The main entrance to the Big Top has served for more than thirty years. I can't imagine that it was ever at the cutting edge of architectural trend setting, but it's kept the rain out, and it does provide a sort of filtered light.

Nice if you like dirt coloured light I guess.

Under Canvas

Inside the big top the lighting through the dirty canvas is quite eery, in some ways it would be nicer if the centre had been completely abandoned. Nicer for photographs that is, but at least for the moment things inside are kept clean and almost dry.

It will be interesting to see what is planned.

Going, going ....

The roof of the Big Top is, as its name suggests, canvas. This may well be the last photograph I take of it in it's present form, probably not a bad thing!

A few years ago I visited the University of the Sunshine Coast on a bright day with clear, vibrant blue skies. The grey buildings looked stunning then, almost glistening in the sunshine.

This week under grey skies, well I could have been in London!

No stone unturned.

I suspect on a busy afternoon there are few creatures left undisturbed.

The heron suspects the same. Usually they are quite shy, staying well away from people, but this one seems to think there are opportunities to be had!

After the contest

After the surfing contest, all that's left to do is take the tents and flags away, dismantle the scaffold and think about what might have been, or what will be next year.

Crowds

The beach is unusually crowded as everyone tries to make the most of the fast fading light.

Coloured Ocean

I actually like watching the change in colour and texture of the ocean as it hits the sudden drop off at the beach almost as much as I like watching the expression on the surfers when they realise they are not going to make it!

Heading down to Brisbane

With a whole ocean to sail in, I often wonder why they stick so close to the edge, and why they don't fall off!

Who's having the most fun?

Is it more fun to be burning energy, or burning brain cells?

I like the thought of a good hard game of volleyball.

But I like the thought of just sitting and watching the waves as well I have to admit.
