Desperately seeking beach house

To many the "beach house" is something more modern, a beehive with identical furniture and matching towels and why not, I wonder.

Looking North

The way the dune grasses blend into the beach is no less than stunning in my view.  Walking beside them is a truly great pleasure.

Looking South

It's hard to believe we are a few hundred metres from a major urban precinct, yet we are.

Desperately seeking beach house

It's the pergola isn't it? And the hammock, and perhaps the railing made of wire.   Why blue I wonder?  Does it hark back to some mediterranean links from the past?

I think we need to investigate further.

Desperately seeking beach house

Continuing to ask the question what makes a beach house a beach house?   Perhaps it's pandanus, and fancy pergola ends, or guttering with a bit missing.   Or is it verandah hooks where something once hung?

What is it?

It looks like scaffold in a way.  I rather like it, but in our family I stand alone.  Architecture as sculpture or vice versa?

Calendar

Once upon a time to walk a dog one needed somewhere to go and a stick to throw.   Now one needs a watch and a calendar.

Casuarinas

On the dunes the casuarinas bend and break, grow and fall in a never ending cycle of trying to establish a forest but not quite succeeding.   I feel really sorry for them actually.  If they do succeed to hang on to life long enough to reach maturity, sure as eggs there'll be a cyclone come along and wipe away the very dunes in which they sit.

Unsettled

I know that my photos usually show cloudless blue skies, and perfect sunshine, but just occasionally the weather seems to be unsettled for a bit.  I'm sure there's blue sky up there somewhere though.

Massage

Sigh!  Business is slow, but no one seems to care particularly much.

Character

I can see some sort of regional character developing, but it's not clear enough to describe yet.   This is part of it I think.

Prospecting

When we were kids, after a few days of strong winds, the soft top would have been whipped off the beach, and we'd scan the surface for hours looking for coins or anything that may have been revealed.   Now it's all done with the aid of super technology.

I wonder if she's found enough to pay for the detector?

Ordinary

It's dull and overcast and the surf is blown out, but it's still fun to muck around in the water.

I never get tired...

I really don't ever get tired of the view of the beach through the dunes.  Each vista is surprisingly different given that there really is only a bit of sand, some water and a tree or two in sight at any given time.

Over there

Just over there, beyond the rock groin on the other side of the bay, is Cooloola.  A land of wondrous coloured sands and world heritage importance.  Perhaps one day I'll take my camera there.

One day.

Art

I thought at first that it was graffiti, or deliberate art, perhaps it is.

It's a trail of shiny crack filling tar, dribbled over the asphalt and left to own devices.  Cool, eh?

Every now and then I'll snap a shot or two of the cotton tree in flower, just because I like 'em.

Are we there yet?

Mural

I quite like the variety of apartments, and all those holiday makers who have been so anxious to get here that they couldn't wait for the plane to land, but I do have a few concerns about the foundations.

From the stage

If I were performing on stage at the Kings Beach Amphitheatre, this is the view I'd have.  At least no one would be asking for their money back.

It's been done

I know I've posted a photo of this building before, but in the late afternoon with a muddy sky, the colours just work for me.

Leaning Towers

High rise development is uncool in Noosa, but if you bank say nine or ten houses on top of each other, that's OK.

Unsure

The flag definitely indicates the wind is blowing from the left of picture.  So is the person actually sheltering on the wrong side of the break?

I think so.
