Thongs
No not an item of underwear, the humble rubber thong is also known as the scuff, the flipflop (the jandal in New Zealand) and by a host of other names.
Whatever it's called near you, we know it's summer when it becomes the ubiquitous footwear for supermarket patrons, (those that have any footwear that is), and the floors start to become unmistakably gritty as half of the beach is brought in on the suntanned feet of convenience shoppers.

Sheesh, imagine washing those floors!
It's still strange to me to hear about summer during our winter but I get it! We're a tourist town as well, lots of flipflops and sand.
Darned good word rooned, is what I say!
What do you make of the designer thong, Peter?
Since I live no where near the beach the nearest things I wear are mandles, but not for another five months.
Take good care of that summer weather and send it up to us when your finished with it.
Back on feet again!
We won't be seeing this footwear or attire for several months here in Vermont.
My favourite footwear! Unfortunatelly the weather doesn't allow us to wear them from November till April...
I like thongs on the right people.
Flip flops are becoming ubiquitous during the summer months and worn everywhere.
I wish I could wear flip flops but I am so clumsy I fear I would trip and fall every time I put them on!
