Smiley Skywatch

This is my first SKYWATCH post, and technically you can't see the sky!

Although I suspect that there will be few visitors inspired by the thumbnail view, the moon and stars were smiling on us this week, so I thought I could divert from the Christmas theme for a day, after all if the heaven's want to spread good cheer, well the least I can do is spread it!

Venus and Jupiter conspired with the moon to make a smiley face for some in the Southern Hemisphere, while I understand the folk in the US saw the opposite: a sad face.

I think it's brilliant! What a great shot! A very popular subject everywhere these days. Nothing like a happy sky! Thank you!

We had cloudy skies. Thanks for sharing such an excellent photo of a special night sky. I enjoyed the other pictures on your blog too.

Wonderful shot, you must have a very long lens. I totally forgot about it, didn't even go outside let alone with the camera.

Thanks, the lens was a modest 105mm.

I tried to get a "bit closer" with a 200, but the shot didn't work to my eye.

It was a fairly lengthy exposure though, and I guess the blackness of the sky saved the pic from excessive "noise".

Happy sky watch Friday
Love your photo.

I like this a lot, Peter. It really shows what all they hype was about. I saw it the next night where I would have had to stand on my head to have it smile at me! And technically, surely it is still the sky; just a night sky.

Good shot ...

Your first Skywatch, and a great one. A smiley face! I love it! And this is my first visit to your blog, and I like your photos very, very much. The Florida-looking house a few down is particularly nice, and yes, nifty.

What an incredible shot. Here in Hawaii, Venus and Jupiter were below the moon so we couldn't get the smiley face. Your photo is really amazing.

Glad yo had enough nouse to click your shutter. in S.A. we actually had a perfectly proportioned face with the smile much closer to the eyea and idiot me instead of going for the camera, just gazed at it loke a moon struck calf. I'm still kicking myself!
My granddaughters are busily baking gingerbread and decorating it with the most intricate snowflakes.
If you want to wallow in some Auzzie snow, scroll down to my last My World post, we got a foot of it Fruday a week ago!

I actually meant the post two down from that, about our Ski Lodge.
Thanks for looking anyway.
