More Dicky

After washing ashore, the steamer Dicky was pretty much in one piece, but while it was unrecoverable it was sitting bolt upright and level on the beach. It was used as a dance hall for many years until around the thirties (I think) when it was burnt out.

The Dicky looks beautiful the way it's washed up on the beach.

Beautiful shot. The perspective with that curve gives it the look of a whale backbone.

I see I am not the first to think this looks like the bones of a big fish. I rememeber playing around this wreck when I was a kid on one of our rare visits to the coast.

The Dicky!!!
I did not know it was a dance hall - is that true??!!
Or are you pulling our legs?

No, it really was a dance hall for years. Would have been a pretty special place I think, like a very low amusement pier!
