Look Down
Today's theme day is "look down" and you can see many more photographs on this theme at this link.
This photo is almost certainly the oldest stairway/ladder in the city. It is taken from the top of the old lighthouse, which was built around 1890.
There isn't much in the way of safety gear hear, so we should be grateful that its trustees are allowed to open it to the public.

The descent would be very scary for me! Have you tried it yourself?
ReplyDeleteWell framed for a look down.
ReplyDeleteGreat capture - I feel the vertigo and shudder at all the modern safety features missing from this ladder!
ReplyDelete@Kate - yes I have been up it (that's how I got the shot!
ReplyDelete-it's not too bad in reality, we have a young friend who took her five year old up!
What an interesting shot! I'm posting a lighthouse staircase also and it looks wildly modern - and far easier to climb - compared to yours.
ReplyDeleteGreat image! Going down.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't do it but glad you did 😃 Brilliant image for the theme.
ReplyDeleteNow that is unusual. Great pic.
ReplyDeleteVery spooky!
ReplyDeleteSo many photos within this photo.
ReplyDeleteI can see that being very problematic for those with a fear of heights.
ReplyDeleteGood onya! You're a lot braver than I would have been in that old lighthouse.
