The Melting Tree


I love the way this coastal banksia in Bulcock Street has responded to being cooped up betwixt road and pavement.   The roots have grown into each other at surface level, making the tree look as though it's slowly melting and slipping out of its trunk.

I am not sure how the poor thing gets water from the subsoil though.
