Revolution

When I was a kid, surfboards were quite heavy planks of things that used to go pretty much in straight lines, that was before the revolution that saw them becoming smaller and lighter with more fins and surfers arrived with ridiculous levels of skill.

Now we are seeing aerial three hundred and sixy degree turns, and flips and well.... complete revolutions really.  Boards like this one that in the hands of the right skipper can do a u-turn inside it's own length.

  4. Lovely, Peter. We have had big surf around here for the last few days, but I haven't seen surfers with the skill level this man seems to have. (Nice interpretation of "revolution," a tough theme.)

  6. I love this photo and the skill of the surfer ... I remember the long boards .. And I remember how hard they were to get up to speed .. They weighted a ton and required lots of paddling ... Mostly I remember the board wax pulling my chest hair .. Ouch

  7. Fantastic shot Peter. It's pretty awesome watching what they can do out there. There was a huge surfing comp off the coast at Margaret River recently, monster waves :)
