It's still summer.
There are no leaves on the trees to speak of,
All of the coloured bits are in fact new shoots popping out of the main branches of the trees.
This is new growth, appearing after the trees were stripped of their leaves in last month's storms, just as they would had the trees been ravaged by bushfire.
It's impossible not to be constantly fascinated by this country!
