Oysters

On most rocks which are subjected to immersion with each tide, there are signs of oysters, often just scars where they have been.    I've often wondered what sort of desperate person would split the shells to get to the animal within, when the rocks are near all manner of nasty outfall.

It was only a few minutes before taking this photo that the obvious occurred to me as I watched a bird (an Oyster Catcher as it happened) attacking the shells!

  2. It took me four attempts to get the captcha words right. It's a real nightmare. Do you really need it?
