Crossing

We must be an impatient lot, almost every town has a pedestrian bridge over the railway line as insurance against the few minutes one would have to wait for the train to pass.

It has been more than half a century since the last steam engine ran on this line, so a large percentage of the population have never seen one in action.  Why then, does a steam locomotive in this, the space age, communicate danger?

    I've often wondered that, too! Thinking about little kids these days but a lot will be familiar with Thomas the Tank Engine and/or have visited the rail museum and/or have been on a heritage steam train ride. While the graphic is a tad dated, it's maybe not as unknown to the younger folk as you and I might imagine. Love the pix, btw! :-)

    When I see these signs on the road I sometimes forget and think oh goodie a historic train place coming up.
