Looking down

Looking at the house snugged into the valley, I can't help but wonder how they get back to the top of the hill?  Do they walk up for their groceries?

Sunshine

What an awful photograph.

I was trying to be funny with the world Sunshine in the sunshine, but now I just look pathetic!
Oh well, I'll try to do better.

Ahh...

Last time I photographed this building it was empty and for lease.

Well it's not any longer, but the security screens seem to be taking things a bit far.  This is the part of Nambour I don't particularly like.   I wonder what it is that gave rise to them?

Perhaps there's a playground behind!

Glisten

I do like the concrete as it glistens in the morning sun, like some sort of giant fossil dig.

Back in Nambour

The landscaping is starting to make its presence felt now, with is just as well as even after a few short years, the vibrance of the colours is starting to weather, and it will need the trees to break it up.

Hospital revisited

Back in Nambour for a bit, and the hospital, last visited photographically speaking when it was barely open, has had time to mature a bit.

The etched concrete still looks terrific.

Well that's it!

There comes a point in every sunrise photo effort, where there isn't much point in going on.

Here is that point!

Nothing to see here if you want to see anything else for the rest of the day... time to move on!

In case you missed it.

If you blinked you would have missed it yesterday, but there it is again, Mount Coolum looking suspiciously like Uluru in profile, but the ocean says we aren't in the centre!

Sunrise over Coolum

Sometimes, for just a moment, one can get lucky!

Sunrise over Mount Coolum, and of course the Pacific Ocean.

Looking around.

There's a lot to be seen before the dawn, but one needs to be an owl to see it.

Won't be long now, the sun is on its way!

Chasing the Sunrise.

Trying to photograph the sunrise is like fishing.

If the weather looks promising, even if it's cold, you get out of bed early, drive to a likely spot and then sit and wait for things to happen.

Just as the dawn begins, if you don't get a hint that things might turn out OK, you go home.  Today I hung around.

On the way to the sunrise.

The really nice thing about this time of year is that one doesn't have to get out of bed too early to seek  a sunrise vantage point, even if that means a  drive in the country.

Men et work

I wonder what else we can do with the word "Etwork"?

How does one get the colour scheme of one's sign to harmonise so exactly with the winter sky?

Happiness is...

I have a theory that the occupants of a building are happy in an inverse relationship to the gaudiness of the exterior.

Perhaps that's why we have so many white buildings.

Grind on this!

There's more than one way to stop budding skateboard champions wrecking the tops of your garden edges, and I reckon this one would be fairly effective.

For Lease

For lease, really big showroom - proven lack of traffic stopping despite really bright paint.

Aerodrome Road

Aerodrome Road is the main collector spine through Maroochydore.  It's the "High Street" if you will.

Although I've tried before to find a positive light in which to place it, it's difficult to make something lined with over-signed, over-coloured buildings and carrying four lanes of traffic and enough electric light poles to feed a small forest fire,  anything other than what it is.

A shambolic mess?   That may be a bit harsh, but it's not pretty!

Not quite tidy

Bodies Corporate have rules about what can and can not go on balconies.  Usually matching furniture is nice, and nothing else.

The lines between bare, tidy and unkempt are very fine ones, and I suspect this building is teetering on the brink of some sort of point of no return as individualism begins to over-run the rubber stamp.

Oh sigh, there goes the neighbourhood!

A question on ratings.

The Maroochydore Beach Motel has a rating of three and a half star-fish.

How many other star-fish rated accommodation places are there in the world, and who rates them?

Things are looking up

One day, I will hire a helicopter and take equally beautiful photographs looking down, but for the time being I am not tall enough so will remain content with looking up.

Sun Graphics

I wonder if the designer of the window screens had calculated the shadow patterns for various times of the day, or if he took pot luck.

If it was the latter I reckon it was his lucky day!

Up and at 'em

This early morning scene is not as placid, tranquil or relaxed one may imagine it to be.

Photographs with sound would have revealed the blaring music which keeps the throngs swimming laps motivated (perhaps awake?) while other blaring sounds and whoops and hollers boom out across the parkland as the water-arobics instructor attempts to fill those in her charge in the indoor pool with enthusiasm for each new movement.

Me?  I'm happy to walk outside the grounds, sneaking a photo through the fence and hoping I am not mistaken for someone with sinister motives!

Please Recycle

Fishing line does enormous damage to the well being of wild life, so it's a nice touch having a spot to recycle damaged line.

It's the only one I've seen though, I wonder who takes care of it? I should have read the fine print.

Freedom

I am not sure what in this picture represents something other than absolute freedom, but I guess I just don't get it.

But what is the punctuation mark?

Perhaps it's a sign that it's not me, but the author who doesn't get it!

Thinning

The tree canopy at the Cotton Tree camping ground is gradually disappearing as the ocean takes its inevitable toll, attempting as it does to move the river mouth south against the wishes and best efforts of man and his machines.

Muted

It's around eight in the morning and the breeze has already started to take the sheen off the mirror, but one can sense in the colours something of what drives people to find houses against the water's edge.

Will someone turn off the lights?

I am not quite sure what a Mambo is or indeed how one makes coffee from it if one does come across one in the dark.

I am sure that the early morning sunshine is waaaay too bright for more than one person partaking of their morning charge!

Powerline vs Art

Surely given the expense involved in creating the beautiful glass facade, it wouldn't have been too much to ask to remove the power lines so we can see it, and photograph it without resorting to a weird angle as we did yesterday!

Pandanus

I hope that the glass facade with the beautiful image of the pandanus foliage does not somehow morph into a billboard as the building ages and maintenance budgets are stretched.

For now, I will enjoy it for what it is, a bit of art that hides the parking levels.

Zest!

I searched and searched for zesty people, then I got tired!

If you are out of zest, then you need to visit sleep city.   I really like the little bed logo in the "i" as well, and it's sort of orange-zest colured.
